Abstract

The chapter by Nikolai Rudenko and Liubov Chernysheva analyze alternative mobility - bicycles, scooters, skateboards - in the space of a modern Russian city. The authors note that many of the qualitative approaches within mobility studies are not able to convey the non-representational (N. Trift) nature of the trip. This is especially true for the study of alternative mobility. The authors share their findings on how it is possible to assemble such an assemblage of methods that would help capture the user experience of alternative types of mobility, as well as clarify the interpretations that actors give to their experiences.
