Abstract

The article provides a critical analysis of trends in the reduction of the population of Russia under the influence of fertility, mortality and migration of the population, and the deterioration in the age composition of the population. The forecasted age shifts in the formation of the labor force, regional differentiation of the prospects for demographic development and the formation of labor resources are considered. A hypothesis is put forward about the need to use the compensating role of migration population growth, the need for a migration policy that ensures the growth of the resident population to meet the demand for labor in the labor market.
