Abstract

An analysis of current trends in Russian-Chinese interregional sister cooperation based on a study of the opinions of 123 experts from the administrative bodies of 77 Russian sister cities and sister regions who have experience of interaction with cities and regions of China for more than 5 years shows that a solid foundation of sister cities Relations between Russia and China is humanitarian cooperation. Experts associate certain expectations and future prospects with trade and economic cooperation, which far from all Russian cities and regions managed to develop on mutually benefcial terms with China. To a certain extent, this does not depend on the border position of Russian regions, but on the general level of socio-economic development, investment attractiveness and activity of administrative authorities, business circles in Russian regions and cities. In their responses, the experts assign a signifcant place to listing numerous diffculties and problems on the path of mutually benefcial Russian-Chinese interregional cooperation.
