Abstract

The article deals with gender and spatial aspects of interregional educational migrations in Russia for the period 2017-2019. Special attention is paid to the age categories of 15-16 and 17-18 years. The study reveals trends in the attractiveness of regions for educational migrants, as well as gender differences in the choice of educational path and subsequent labor migration. The results of the study show that many Russian regions, including central Russia, the Rostov and Sverdlovsk regions, as well as the Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk Territories, are attractive for educational migration. At the same time, the Republic of Tatarstan and Primorsky Krai, despite significant investments in educational infrastructure, were less attractive. Gender analysis revealed that women's educational migration tends towards the largest agglomerations and western regions, while men's migration is often associated with military education and service. The situation in the Republic of Tuva, which is a unique case study in the context of the subject under study, is separately noted. Unlike other regions, where women's educational migration is often low-returnable, Tuva has a significant return of women in the age group of 19-25 years. The article offers a number of recommendations for equalizing gender imbalances, including a more even distribution of resource rents and investments in the diversification of the country's economy and regions.
