Abstract

The article deals with the problems of correlation of lifestyle aspects in the context of the categorical problem “physical-intellectual”, which is typical of the leisure-labor dilemmas of scientific and pedagogical staff. The purpose of the article is an empirical presentation and conceptualization of the relationship of sports and leisure practices with professional practices and life attitudes of intellectual staff. The ressarch is based on the materials of the teaching staff of St. Petersburg University. As a result, the authors arrive at a conclusion that there is a high degree of interconnection between successful professional activities and sports leisure activities. A high self-esteem of health and performance was found in sports respondents. It was possible to fix the tendency of increasing the involvement of high school employees in sports leisure activities as they receive a higher scientific degree. The study confirmed the importance of institutional forms of the implementation of the balance of labor and leisure of higher school personal. Despite the increasing dynamics of institutional changes, the choice in favor of sports leisure continues to confirm the presence of long-term benchmarks for professional success in the field of intellectual labor.
