Abstract

There are different opinions about the causes and effects of digitalisation. Optimists say they are the result of scientific and technological progress, and consider digitalisation key to economic development. Pessimists see digitalisation as part of a neoliberal strategy with a potentially negative impact on cultural behaviour. The most common opinion is that digital change is a complex and controversial process, during which new values, institutions, and relationships are formed which may be either positive or negative.
