Abstract

Social policy in relation to this age category of the population reflects the essence of any society and state, regardless of the political system. Through joint efforts, the country must ensure that the elderly live in such conditions that they not only live longer, but also that their lives are better, more diverse, more fulfilling and more fulfilling. In this paper, the author tried to consider the current problems of demography, gerontology, geriatrics and social services for the elderly and elderly in the Russian Federation, as well as foreign experience in creating non-specialized settlements for senior citizens. It is noted that in the conditions of demographic aging of the population, the leading role should be given to improving the system of state social and medical insurance, which in turn requires further improvement, organization and development of new methods for medical examinations, patronage and introduction of the most rational forms of social and medical care in inpatient and semi-stationary institutions or non-specialized institutions, and the village for the elderly can rightfully become one of the new forms of geriatric care for the elderly in the Russian Federation.
