Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis and diagnostics of trends and problems of rural areas in the spatial development of Russia. The paper considers modern socio-demographic processes and their consequences in rural areas of the country. The assessment of the processes of compression of the previously developed space of the village and the depopulation of rural territories is given. Special attention is paid to the current directions of improving the policy of rural development of the Russian Federation.
