The work is prepared on the basis of the author's research conducted in 2020 among students of grades 8–11 in Moscow schools, and is devoted to the professional socialization of students. The survey showed that the school actively participates in the formation of socially significant qualities in high school students, which should contribute to successful professional socialization. First of all, it is the ability to creatively approach the solution of original and complex tasks, set goals and implement them, communicate. The school also successfully develops such qualities as discipline, responsibility, conscientiousness and collectivism. High school students consider as significant for themselves the issues of acquiring a profession, their own housing, creating a family, finding a place in life, etc. One of the identified important educational problems of the school curriculum is insufficient attention to the development of students’ stress tolerance. To solve it, it is proposed to coordinate the efforts of all subjects of the educational process: scientists, experts, decision makers, administrators of educational institutions, teachers, parents and schoolchildren themselves. One of the main conclusions of the study: today, in the conditions of a permanent process of education reform, the school takes an active part in the formation of social skills among high school students. However, there is an insufficiently expressed role of the school in the implementation of professional orientation. In this regard, it is desirable to intensify the interaction of the school with other subjects of education to increase the effectiveness of professional socialization.
