Despite the fact that in the region under consideration this process has not so obvious manifestations as in other regions of Russia, it nevertheless requires its own characteristics. Characteristics of intercountry migration of the Rostov region is based on open statistical data. Since migration statistics have a special update schedule, the article uses data from 2019. The following indicators were chosen as characterizing the migration flow of intercountry migrants in the Rostov region: the number of arrivals, the number of departures, migration growth, the sex and age composition of those arriving in and leaving the region, the main directions of the international migration flow (by type of settlement). It was found that intercountry migration, although it does not have a significant impact on the socio-demographic situation of the region, but at the same time takes its own place in the regional society; the largest flow of international migration in the region is experienced by urban districts; migration gain makes it possible to reproduce the social group of international migrants in the regional community; the vast majority of intercountry migrants come from neighboring countries; there are no imbalances in the gender composition of migrants, at the same time, men in an economically active age show greater migration activity than women of a similar age; the predominance of migrants of an economically active age inevitably gives the intercountry migration of the Rostov region a labor character.
