Abstract

Public or civic participation always implies an active, active position, forcing people to do something for the common good. This activity, as a rule, is of a collective nature, since without the combined efforts of many people it is very difficult to implement more or less large-scale social projects, and to defend rights and freedoms. The success of any collective initiative depends ultimately on whether its participants manage to find a balance between individual interests and public needs. Mutual trust is one of the main conditions for overcoming opportunistic behavior that leads to ignoring the common interest and avoiding collective action. Moreover, many studies convincingly prove that trust not only ensures the success of collective forms of civic participation, but is the key to the successful development of society.
