Ukhanova Yu.V. Civic participation of the local community: a sociological study at the municipal level

Abstract

The analysis was carried out on the materials of the regional centers of the Vologda region, which by type of settlement belong to small towns. The method of collecting empirical information is a quantitative sociological measurement carried out in the region in 2019 in 13 districts and two large cities – Vologda and Cherepovets. It is determined that the population of small territories demonstrates a lower level of direct involvement in participation practices compared to large cities. However, the analysis of the data obtained gives grounds to speak about the qualitative diversity of civil initiatives on the ground: practices related to the improvement of local territories, as well as with various forms of helping (solidarity) behavior, are widely spread. It is concluded that at the level of everyday life there is a significant potential for constructive unification, solidarity of the local community in solving socially significant tasks.
