The first results of the study are presented in the monograph Small towns in the social space of Russia in 2019, where they are considered the most acute problems of the development of small Russian cities, strategies and practices for their solution, with recommendations for the repayment of negative trends in the socio-economic and socio-cultural spheres. In 2020, the monograph Spatial development of small towns: Social strategies and practices was published. It reveals the features of social reproduction in small towns, the regional specifics of the activities of their social communities, developed models of integrated and balanced development of territories. This monograph Small towns of Russia: new challenges, social problems and prospects offers a different vision of the problem of the place and role of small towns in settlement and settlement structures: agglomerations, conurbations, megalopolises, localized socio-territorial formations, in territories remote from large cities. The proposed mixmetodology directly goes to the scientific justification of the strategizing of socio-economic and socio-cultural development of various models of small towns. The monograph is of interest to both researchers and specialists in sociology and regional studies, as well as for specialists in the field of management at the local, regional and federal levels.
