The paper considers trends in the family life of orphaned children and the issue of the return of adopted children. The problems of foster families and the main reasons leading to the return of children adopted for up-bringing by foster parents are identified. Based on the defined measures aimed at improving the life of foster families and reducing the abandonment of children in Russian regions, possible mechanisms for solving these problems are proposed. The analysis uses data of the official statistical reports, namely, Form 103-RIK «Information on the identification and placement of orphans and children left without parental care» for 2008–2019. The research conclusions are based on the results of an expert survey conducted in 2018 in 6 Russian regions facilitated by the Fund to Support Children in Difficult Life Situations.Content (in russ)hide table of contentsshow table of contents
