Abstract

With a growing number of coronavirus cases, concerns about international migrants are growing, because they are a very vulnerable group against COVID-19 since they face additional problems such as access to healthcare in the host countries. Around 3.6 million Afghans are living in Iran who are mostly labor migrants. In 2020, more than 850 thousand Afghan undocumented immigrants have returned to Af-ghanistan from Iran through two main borders of Herat and Nimroz. The main reasons for returning Afghan immigrants to Afghanistan are, severe economic situation in Iran due to the western sanctions and Corona-virus COVID-19 which have increased Iran’s inflation rate, unemployment rate and devalued the Iranian currency.
