It is noted that the coronavirus pandemic has caused significant damage to the tourism and service sector in Southeast Asia, where the majority of Russian expats are employed, which contributed to the return of about 60-70% of their representatives to their homeland. In turn, the situation of Russian specialists employed in the Southeast Asian manufacturing industry, especially energy, turned out to be more stable, as well as safer due to the absence of the spread of the ideology of aggressive nationalism and ethnic discrimination against Russians and Russian-speaking expats.
