Abstract

The purpose of the article is to consider the problem of development in the modern world within the framework of sociology and its theoretical approaches. This paper is devoted to concepts that interpret the capitalist path of development, precisely theoretical interpretations that allow one to immerse in problems of development, the genesis of approaches and changes in ideas of social development. Analyzing the trends of the capitalist development of the world, the authors examine the economic relations and behavior of modern development actors, the stratifi cation structure of modern society, the risks and consequences that arise as a result of overcoming the crises of capitalism and the attempts of its active representatives to cope with the threats of the decomposition of the capitalist world system. A separate line refers to the Stakeholder economy and the Green agenda as the main ideologemes for the development of modern capitalism, an assessment is made of their implementation for developed and peripheral countries. The theoretical basis of the article is a consistent presentation of the study of development in sociology, starting with the theories of modernization that arose after the World War II, their crisis and the subsequent ascent of theories of dependence, world-system analysis and historical sociology, which today have a great explanatory potential. D. Harvey, W. Robinson and J. Harris, K. Lash, A. Giddens, J. Haskell and S. Westlake and others are mentioned as the main authors.
