Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the integration processes of migrants in Russian society. Taking into account the fact that the Russian Federation is one of the world leaders in terms of migration flows, the issue of subsequent integration of migrants is of priority importance both for the successful development of Russian society and for improving the demographic situation in the country. Despite these factors, in the current domestic practice there are no sufficient mechanisms for the integration of migrants and tools for their assessment that would take into account the regional economic and ethno-demographic specifics of the subjects. It is thanks to integration assessment mechanisms that the migration authorities of the host society are able to qualitatively manage the integration process, which minimizes ethno-cultural conflicts and increases the level of migrants' involvement in the economic development process. The purpose of this work is to improve and modernize the index of integration of migrants in the Russian Federation and its evaluation mechanisms by developing a theoretical and methodological basis for the topic under study. Based on the Russian Regional Migrant Integration Index (Russian Regional Index of Migrant Integration, RRIMI) and the International Migrant Integration Index (Migrant Integration Policy Index, MIPEX), the authors analyzed the current process of migrant integration in Russia, taking into account modern economic and ethno-demographic characteristics. The current process of integration of migrants in the Russian Federation is described. The problem areas of the considered indexes are identified with recommendations for further improvement. The approaches to compiling an up-to-date index of migrant integration are highlighted. Based on the conducted research, the theoretical and methodological basis of the index of integration of migrants in the Russian Federation has been developed.
