Abstract

The article deals with the agricultural resettlement of the inhabitants of the Volga-Vyatka region in the pre-war period (1939 — June 1941). Based on a wide range of published and unpublished sources, the specifics of pre-war agricultural resettlements are determined, the main tasks of resettlement policy, the scale and consequences are analyzed. Based on the materials of the Volga-Vyatka region, the socio-economic and demographic possibilities of the exit areas, planned indicators, the scale of resettlement and the geography of settlement are determined. It is noted that the predominantly exit areas were the Mordovian ASSR and the Chuvash ASSR, which is mainly due to the agrarian nature of their economy, lack of land and high population density of these territorial entities.
