Abstract

The article examines the importance of the Harbin Fair for the formation and development of direct ties between the regions of Russia and the People's Republic of China in the early 1990s. The study was carried out on the basis of documents from the collections of Chinese and Russian archives, as well as materials from Chinese and Russian newspapers. In June 1990, in Harbin, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of the People's Republic of China organized a "Fair-exhibition on the development of trade and economic relations between the People's Republic of China and the USSR and the countries of Eastern Europe". This fair has become an annual one. Official delegations from seven Russian regions came to the first fair at the invitation of the head of Heilongjiang Province. In the early years, the regional delegations that came to the Harbin Fair were headed by the heads of the regions. At the first Harbin Fairs, delegations from the regions negotiated and concluded agreements with Heilongjiang Province, as well as with organizations from other regions of China. The Harbin Fair has become an important event for the development of Russian-Chinese relations at the regional level.
