Abstract

The social sphere of the regional economy is considered in the article as a complexly structured socio-economic subject area. The construction of knowledge about such a subject area faces two main problems: expressing the diversity of social relations and modeling the processes of their construction by social actors. The article analyzes the pros and cons of narrative, visual structural models and ontological methods of knowledge management as means of conceptualizing the social domain. It is shown that neither of these approaches satisfactorily meets two conditions: 1) the creation of knowledge about the social sphere by experts in the form of a narrative; 2) the paralleling of a single representation of the social sphere into a family of individual narratives. It is proposed to conceptualize the social sphere as one of the subject areas of a more general socio-economic system by analytical coding method. The following advantages of this method are pointed out: improvement of conceptualization quality, visual representation of all conceptual actions, possibility to organize team interdisciplinary work of researchers, conceptual integration of social sphere research with other subject areas.
