Based on the results of the analysis, it is concluded that generalized trust (trust in people in general) can be considered as a natural prerequisite for nationwide Russian consolidation, since a high level of generalized trust creates a favorable ground for the formation of a positive all-Russian identity and attitudes of interethnic tolerance. In addition, it was found that positive feelings about one's own country play a significant role in the formation of Russian identity. Despite its lability and elusiveness, the emotional component of Russian identity has sufficient power to influence the processes of national-civil consolidation.
