Abstract

The analysis of the sphere of language interactions, language policy and practice regarding the Russian language as the state language and other languages, especially the state languages of the Russian republics, is presented. Based on the material of surveys, interviews and focus groups, the perception of the Russian language as a component of the identity of Russians is analyzed, aspects of its perception as the state language and the language of the state-forming people are touched upon in mass public opinion and expert discourse at the all–Russian level and in the discourse in one of the Russian republics - the CBD; the issues related to the consequences of the ethnolinguistic contradictions of 2018, as well as the problems of satisfaction of the ethno-cultural needs of people in the field of languages are considered.
