Abstract

The article is based on the data of the All-Russian public opinion polls conducted in 2014-2021 by the Institute of Sociology of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and devoted to the study of collective ideas about the current situation of Russian local self-government. The main indicator used in the work is the trust in municipal authorities. During the seven-year observation period, this indicator was at a low level. This indicates the destruction of trust relations between society and local self-government bodies. The article proves that the basis of social trust in municipal authorities is their proximity, transparency and control of local residents.
