Abstract

The article considers language as an object of sociocultural analysis in the system of its essential characteristics, which manifest themselves in the process of using sociological methods for studying this phenomenon. Such an approach allows, in particular, to see the true significance of language as a backbone element of culture and to show its ability to construct a new reality. The authors analyze the causes of the crisis of the Russian language as a material carrier of national culture, the fall of its popularity in the world. Measures are proposed to overcome the sociolingual crisis, which is essentially a sociocultural crisis.
