Abstract

One of the pain points of the modern labor market, and of the entire economy as a whole, is the low wages of the majority of the population, which do not fulfill their reproductive and stimulating functions, as well as the high degree of its differentiation. Given the high share of wages in the monetary income of the population in the face of a reduction in free services, the main problem is the inability of wages to provide a decent standard of living. In addition, the prevailing high level of wage differentiation, which in most cases does not depend on the personal characteristics of the worker, has a negative impact on the social wellbeing of the population. The article monitors the differentiation of wages in the Republic of Bashkortostan 74 Vestnik BIST (Bashkir Institute of Social Technologies). 2022; 4(57) REGIONAL ECONOMY against the background of Russian inequality. The main directions of wage inequality are identified and analyzed: between Russian regions, types of economic activity, occupational groups, as well as gender inequality. It was revealed that the highest degree of wage differentiation is observed by occupational groups, especially among men.
