However, the phenomenon of aging becomes an independent subject of study only in the second half of the XX century. In this regard, at the first stage, aging studies are carried out indirectly — as part of the study of the age structure, mortality and fertility factors, etc. The second stage of aging studies is characterized by the fact that the academic and international community is aware of this independent process and its significance. The third stage is associated with the emergence of multidimensional mathematical models that deeply explore various aspects of aging. The onset of the fourth stage is due to two factors: the transition from assessments of aging to the quality of life of the aging population, the transition to the ideological construction of old age. The most striking example of this stage is the Active Ageing Index.
