Research on the determinants of demographic and migratory behavior is still relevant. They can be divided into social, economic, environmental, etc. The hypothesis of the study is the assumption that the factors influencing demographic and migration behavior are determined by the level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the quality of life in a particular area. Sociological tools allow you to evaluate social factors, as well as, indirectly, economic, environmental, etc. The purpose of the study is to reveal the spatial patterns of the determinants of demographic and migratory behavior. The article proposes to use vector assessments of the population's preferences as a method for determining the factors influencing the movement of the population and, consequently, the transformation of the settlement system. This method allows you to accurately determine the inequalities in the development of the territory, the difference in infrastructure conditions and the quality of life in comparison with other territories and the average regional level. It also makes it possible to identify areas with the greatest heterogeneity of conditions and quality of life, to cluster municipalities according to similar factors of dissatisfaction, etc. For the purpose of a comprehensive analysis of multidimensional sociological data and the identification of spatial patterns of the population's dissatisfaction vectors, the authors used a little-studied and relatively new tool - the radar cartodiagram. The article provides an overview of the literature on the research topic, and also describes the methodology for using this tool. The data of a sociological survey of the opinion of the population of the Chelyabinsk region on satisfaction with the conditions and quality of life were used. Estimates of satisfaction and dissatisfaction for residents of the entire Chelyabinsk region are given. The radar cartodiagram was constructed - the vectors of social dissatisfaction for all 43 municipalities of the Chelyabinsk region.
