The analysis of the perception of the meanings of activity and active longevity is carried out on the basis of individual perception of the specifics of a particular activity of older people, depending on their age, different generations: young elderly (65+) and older elderly (75+). A total of 35 interviews with elderly people from two age groups were collected. The main method of interview analysis is thematic. The interviews were conducted in a major federal city – St. Petersburg. The activity strategies highlighted in the study indicate that measures implemented in the context of active longevity policy are insufficient for older people. Thus, the activity of the elderly, represented today at the individual level, denotes a continuum: from activity in the labor sphere, which is most characteristic of the elderly from the group of young elderly (65+), and the desire to search for communication, interaction and targeted appeals to various types of activities in the elderly from the group of 75+ (older elderly). Such consideration indicates the importance of taking into account individual characteristics in the life of the elderly when designing activities, as well as the need to create a more focused and targeted social policy regarding the activity of older people.
