The goal is to consider the migration situation that has developed in modern Russian society, the task is to show its change in the face of such external challenges as the coronavirus pandemic, sanctions against our country, and a special military operation. The research methods are analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, statistical method. The object of the study is migration processes. The results of the study include the use of the results of the All-Russian Population Census of 2020 on migration, on people who were temporarily in our country and permanently reside abroad. Such aspects of migration as migration growth and migration decline in federal districts, in international migration, citizenship, national, age and sex composition, marital status of migrants, participation in migration processes of foreign labor migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, people who have received temporary asylum, compatriots living abroad are shown. The main provisions of the conclusion are: the need to achieve the goal, compliance with the principles, fulfillment of the tasks formulated in the Concept of the State Migration Policy of the Russian Federation for 2019 - 2025 [1]. It is necessary to develop the main directions of migration policy in the field of improving legal and organizational mechanisms; creating conditions for the adaptation of foreign citizens; promoting the free movement of students, researchers and teachers; creating conditions for reducing the disproportion in the distribution of the population and solving the problems of spatial development; improvement of mechanisms for the prevention, prevention, detection and suppression of violations of migration legislation and corruption violations; providing assistance to foreign citizens seeking protection on Russian territory. It should be taken into account that temporarily arrived people are unevenly settled in the federal districts; Migration growth, which affects the population, is of great importance; the need to attract highly qualified foreign specialists; the importance of a simplified procedure for employment and obtaining a residence permit for highly qualified foreign specialists; There is an unresolved problem of crime in the field of migration relations. When reviewing the literature, it should be emphasized that numerous scientific publications provide a meaningful analysis of the current problems of migration processes, the place of migration in demographic development. At the same time, they were published mainly before the 2020 All-Russian Population Census. This article uses its results. The article was prepared on the basis of the results of the All-Russian Population Census of 2020, official statistics, materials published in the press on population migration.
