Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the process of reproduction of the mentality of Russians: emotional, cultural characteristics, value orientations and attitudes. Based on empirical data obtained during the sociological study “Cultural heritage and the connection of generations”, carried out by the Russian Society of Sociologists (under the co-leadership of the authors) in 2022, the mentality of two groups of Russian students was analyzed. The first group is students whose primary socialization took place in rural areas, the second group is students socialized in big cities. During the analysis, the authors made a conclusion that the institution of family contributes to the preservation of traditional values, especially among villagers, but is not able to withstand the influence of liberal ideology that determines social relations in the Russian Federation
