Abstract

This article analyzes the existing approaches in the domestic and foreign research literature in the study of regional identity, in characterizing the types and types of regional identity, its connection with local and territorial self-consciousness and identifying levels of regional identity based on this. It is concluded that regional identity is a multi-level phenomenon, in accordance with which three levels are distinguished: the micro-level, which expresses individual-personal identification; meso-level, which expresses the identification of an individual with a social group, including a social, professional, corporate group, as well as with an ethno-national group, which can be considered as an ethnic diaspora, on the basis of which ethnic and religious-confessional identification is carried out; the macro level, which expresses the socio-civil, state and national identity. It is shown that regional identity at these levels is expressed by different markers that characterize different factors of the identification process and vectors of its direction. It has been established that the positive compatibility of identities, which is the basis for integration in a multi-ethnic society for the formation of a state-civil identity, is maximally realized with a common vector of compliance with regional identity at all three of these levels.
