The work examines the history of the formationand development of interaction and cooperation between the Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia and the regions of Siberia. The research was carried out on the basis of a complex of historical sources, including archival documents and materials from regional periodicals, with the involvement of the works of Russian researchers. Direct cooperation between Inner Mongolia and the regions of Eastern Siberia was established in 1983 and moved to a qualitatively new stage of development in the early 2000s. The first and main partner of Inner Mongolia was the Chita region. At the new historical stage, interregional cooperation with Siberian regions in the field of higher education has acquired great importance for Inner Mongolia.
