Abstract

The current political, social, and economic situation presupposes a rethinking of many processes that took place in the country and the world. New meanings are being created, and a different vision of the standards and rules that have been established over the years is being formed. Creative industries, as one of the most popular topics in the recent past, also needs a new assessment. Great hopes were pinned on the creative industries, it was assumed that the development of creative industries would lead to a new growth of the world economy, a new civilizational breakthrough would occur [Kludova, 2010: 110-125]. In Russia, adherents of the creative industries believed that the development of this area would create an additional opportunity to transition from a raw material to an innovative economy. But none of this has been implemented and, probably, it is necessary to look for new meanings and new solutions. Do we need creative industries in Russia now in the form in which they existed before their time? Do we now need ratings of creative industries based on parameters developed in the UK, used in the United States of America and the European Union? Creative industries that have grown out of cultural industries have formed a new attitude towards national cultures, offering to evaluate and standardize "cultural products". Whether Russian society needs these transformations is probably a serious question that needs to be resolved at the level of the State Duma and the Government of the Russian Federation.
