Abstract

The purpose of the work is to build a typology of the regions of the Russian Federation based on indicators of the sectoral structure of employment and other economic and demographic characteristics. The objects are the economy and the sphere of employment of the population, the subject is the formation and change of the sectoral structure of this sphere. General scientific methods of socio-economic analysis, as well as mathematical and statistical methods of correlation, factor analysis and cluster analysis are used. Research results: the sectoral structure of employment in Russia and its regions is considered as an integral part, result and characteristic of the level of economic development. For the first time, indices of the quality of structural shifts in employment (ICS) of all subjects of the Russian Federation for the period 2005-2022 were calculated, regional differences were analyzed and a typology of subjects of the Russian Federation was built according to the level of employment in the service sector, the level of urbanization, gross regional product, capital security, unit investments per 1 employed and other indicators for 2018-2022. The interrelationships of key socio-economic indicators, the similarity and difference of regional economic systems are assessed through correlation, factor and cluster analysis. It is concluded that this methodological approach and the developed typology of the subjects of the Russian Federation according to relevant statistical indicators can be useful both for labor economics and for regional economic and economic-geographical research, as well as training courses in these subjects.
