Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify the structural elements of national identity. To analyze the state of these elements of national identity and their dynamics over the past decades based on sociological data. Conclusions: such structural elements of national identity as national feeling, interest in nation, people's knowledge of themselves, national dignity, attitude towards other peoples, the presence of a national idea (ideology), responsibility for the fate of the people and a sense of belonging to their fate, as well as an attitude towards patriotism were highlighted.  The data obtained showed that some of the elements demonstrate positive dynamics, in particular, national feeling, interest in the nation, a sense of belonging to their fate, and patriotic sentiments. But some elements cause concern, especially with regard to the younger generation, which demonstrates a lower level of national identity, a greater focus on Western values, and a low level of knowledge of the achievements of national culture and history.
