Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of the article is to consider the influence of the religious factor on the formation of ideas about the hero and heroism. The analysis included data not only from confessional groups, but also from groups we designate as spiritual (atheists, “I have my own faith”). This was done from the point of view of the quantitative significance of the last two groups, and from the point of view of comparative analysis, which thereby became broader and emphasized semantic nuances and differences. The article presents the results of correlation analysis. Testing for the corresponding relationship between characteristics was carried out using the Pearson Chi-square test, which allows correlation of both quantitative and qualitative data. As a result of the work done, the following conclusions were made: 1) there is an influence of the religious (more broadly spiritual) factor, 2) ideas about the hero and heroism in various religious and spiritual groups have their own characteristics, in this sense the concept of a hero is not universal, 3) universalism lies in the other, in the reading of the hero by representatives of all four groups we surveyed as a positive personality possessing the corresponding virtues.
