Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine the migration dynamics of the population of Crimea for the period from 2019 to 2023. Methodology. The theoretical basis of the work is the research on regional migration in Russia. The analysis of monthly data of current statistical records on the number of long-term migrants arriving and departing to Sevastopol and the Republic of Crimea is central to the study. Results. The article describes the dynamics of migration processes on the Crimean peninsula in 2019-2023. The information base was the current records of long-term migration in the federal city of Sevastopol and the Republic of Crimea. On the basis of monthly dynamics of the number of arrivals and departures, we analyzed the change in migration growth flows in the periods of COVID-19 pandemic spread and special military operation. Conclusions. During the period under review there was a transition to a negative migration balance on the peninsula as a whole. At the same time, the negative migration balance in the Republic of Crimea is more pronounced and appeared earlier than in Sevastopol. In the future, as the risks associated with the actions of Ukraine decrease, the regions of Crimea will experience competition from the new subjects of the Russian Federation, which will attract a part of migrants who want to move to the southern regions of our country, which are favorable in natural and climatic terms. The prospects of the study are related to further study of migration processes in Crimea and new regions of Russia, the condition for which is the improvement of the information base and quality of migration statistics.
