Abstract

The article deals with the social- and cultural-philosophical views of S.L. Frank. The author focuses on Frank’s criticism of the sociology of K. Marx. Based on the analysis of Frank’s texts, the author shows that he considered the views of Comte and Marx, despite the differences between them, essentially close and had a negative attitude towards “scientific sociology”, since its methodology was naturalism. Frank’s position is compared with the attitude towards positivism and Marxism of K. Mannheim and M. Scheler. The author emphasizes the relevance of Frank’s views on the origins and driving forces of the Russian revolution, since modern sociology, for the most part still focused on the natural scientific ideal of scientific character, fundamentally underestimates the spiritual and moral foundations of human sociality.
