Abstract

The article examines the current state of the Russian society at the intersection of two areas - digital network communication and socio-cultural ones, and highlights a number of trends that characterise the dynamics of their development during the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. It is stressed that in both cases the factors that testify to the civilisational and cultural-value confrontation between Russia and the Western world are manifested. It is shown how the context of the SMO affects the changing moods of Russian citizens, and what role online-network communications play in this. The authors conclude that the new socio-political reality formed during the years of the military conflict creates prerequisites not only for the consolidation of the majority of Russians on the basis of patriotism and traditional spiritual and moral values, but also for strengthening the information and cultural sovereignty of the Russian state in the era of global geopolitical confrontation.
