Abstract

Using the example of such once relevant topics as coronavirus and digitalization, it is shown that for a modern sociologist to be relatively cold–blooded in relation to the agenda and to be in the future trend is not easy, however, it is very useful not only for the benefit of future generations. In order to find his unique place in the field of knowledge production, it is preferable for a social scientist to go at least a few steps ahead of what is happening at the moment. If all scientific research is topical, and therefore unified, then they will become outdated before they are published. Revealing the intellectual's ambivalence, I.T. Kasavin shows that the downside of the "vulgarization" of knowledge and the reduction of its "creative potentials" is the "humanization and anthropologization" of science. The tense relationship between Weber's forms of rationality – moral and formal – continues to be one of the important sources of all social problems.
