In the course of applying historical-genetic and statistical scientific research methods, it was established that in the period from 1949 to 2010. Changchun's national economy was restored, its industrial structure was modernized, foreign investment was attracted, and advanced technology was introduced. Particular attention was paid to the development of new energy, biomedicine, technological innovation, and the production of new materials. As industrialization accelerated, the automobile, chemical and steel industries became the city's mainstay industries. Changchun has become the industrial center of all Northeast China. Since 1978, the city began implementing the policy of “Revival of Changchun, Acceleration of Development.” The city's population increased by 5 million people over sixty years, which was caused not only by a continued increase in the birth rate, but also by an influx of population from the rural northeastern regions of China.
