The formation of a systemic shortage of personnel was facilitated by an insufficient influx of external labor migrants to compensate for it. The result of the shortage of personnel is accelerated wage growth. Wages remain undervalued, but their growth has positive consequences. The article examines the differentiation of wage increases by region against the background of the processes of growth of the gross regional product, employment, and a decrease in the working-age population. The methodology of the automated typology of the subjects of the Russian Federation based on cluster analysis has been developed and applied. The results obtained can be used both for monitoring the socio-economic situation of regions, and in teaching labor economics, regional economics, and economic geography.
