Abstract

The authors analyzed the problems that actors face in everyday life, which allowed them to expand their understanding of the structure of factors affecting the wellbeing of Russian families. As a result, typical and non-specific situations in which families find themselves are identified; data are systematized and problems hindering the well-being of Russian families are ranked. Disability of family members comes first, followed by infringement of children’s rights; accessibility and quality of medical care; appointment and amount of pension accruals, etc. The identified problems are determined both by the external conditions (institutional) of family functioning and by internal problems caused by internal processes in the family. Conflict situations, low income, lack of awareness of actors, etc. have the greatest impact on internal problems. Internal problems can be overcome by using the social capital of non-profit organizations with information and institutional resources to support families not only in typical situations, but also in situations requiring the use of the case study method and the involvement of interdepartmental interaction resources, the participation of government agencies (social protection systems, medical care, etc.).
