Abstract

The article shows the continuity of the Millennium Development Goals, adopted by the UN in 2000, and theSustainable Development Goals until 2030 (SDG-17), the implementation of which was launched by the worldcommunity in 2015. The authors show with specific examples and data that despite all UN efforts have notachieved all of the Millennium Development Goals. This failure, among other reasons, is due to the significantturbulence of world processes, the presence of so-called polycrises, covering almost all spheres of life of thehuman community. The main threats to sustainable development today include: environmental, climate andtechnological risks; the risk of negative consequences of an avalanche-like growth of false information, includ-ing that generated using artificial intelligence; excessive economic burden on categories of the country andpeople with a low standard of living; social instability as a consequence of the global polycrisis. The worldcommunity sees a reduction in the negative impact of these risks on the path to implementing the concept ofsustainable development. The main goals of SDG-17 today are aimed at solving social problems; these goalsare aimed at reducing the negative impact of the environment and climate on the economy, as well as overcom-ing problems caused by the rapid development of digital technologies.
