It has given rise to a fairly large Russian-speaking community, which continues to develop under the influence of modern factors of attraction and repulsion. Purpose of the study. In this article, we will consider various sources of information on the number and nature of migration flows from Russia to China. Any statistical data has certain limitations. Not all migrants fall within the scope of current accounting, which is due to the variety of forms and types of population movement. Undercounting or double counting is typical for both sending and receiving countries. In this study, we set the task of comparing data on the migration of Russians to the PRC provided by the statistical service of Russia, on the one hand, and the statistical service of China, on the other hand. Research methods. The basis of this work was statistical analysis in order to compare a set of empirical data obtained from historical sources, scientific literature, media publications, as well as various forms of statistical observation from both the Russian and Chinese sides. Research results. The periodization, which was based on the action of different groups of pushing factors, made it possible to identify several historical waves of population migration from Russia to China. Analysis and comparison of current statistics made it possible to determine the volume and main socio-demographic characteristics of migration flows from the Russian Federation to the PRC at the present stage. Supplementing these results with data from the latest 2020 Chinese population census helped to reconstruct the picture of the current situation and level of integration of the Russian diaspora in China at the present stage. Research prospects. The results of the study can be clarified with the help of sociological surveys of representatives of Russian-speaking communities in China, which would provide information on the individual migration histories of individuals and families, including the duration and reasons for their stay in the PRC, as well as repatriation potential, i.e. readiness to return to Russia.
