Abstract

The article analyzes the problems of the functioning of the Russian language as a socio-cultural phenomenon at the global, regional, and national levels. Russian Russian is recorded: 1 – reduction of the geography and scale of the use of the Russian language in the post–Soviet space; 2 – decrease in the status of the Russian language, despite the expansion of the legislative framework in the Russian Federation, aiming at its dissemination; 3 – misunderstanding by students of the meaning of language as a consolidating/differentiating factor; 4 - degradation of the linguistic culture of youth.
