Abstract

At the center of the article is the question of liberal self-deception as a cognitive prerequisite for the political deception with which we are trying to explain the reasons for Russia’s military-political confrontation with the “collective West”. The author believes that liberal self-deception in the imaginary advantage of capitalism over socialism, which originated in the minds of a certain part of the population and some leaders of the late USSR, significantly influenced and continues to influence the entire history of post-Soviet Russia, which was returned by deception and force of the state power of the “new Russians” to the rails of capitalist development. Attention is drawn to the fact that the liberal self-deception of the post-Soviet political elite creates obstacles and limits the possibilities of Russian participation in the process of forming a “new world order” and finding its worthy place in it.
