Abstract

The article analyzes social and political consequences of the victory of Soviet people in the WWII (Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union). The author observes the historical causes of war, binding them together with Hitler’s expansionism, pandered by the western countries. The author educes new forms of international tensions, which had arisen during the Cold War period and Soviet Union collapse. The defeat of fascism stimulated democratization of international relations, the rise of national liberation movements, new social forces entered the arena of world policy.
