Didenko D.V. Human Capital in Russia in the Context of Social and Economic Modernization

Abstract

The paper explores the issue on the role of human capital in economic development of Russia in a comparative context of catching-up modernization. We discuss application of the principal approaches to human capital measurement and the respective methods of its assessment to our analysis of the Soviet and post-Soviet economic history. We identify the long-term trends of education penetration and of human capital formation, differentiation and utilization in Russia.
